waldron buildersChili Recipe

Posted: October 18, 2010

To all the folks who visited our Parade of Homes house at 127 Cobble Hill Drive we thank you. Here is the recipe for the "Working Mom's Chili" we served on Saturday October 16th and Sunday October 17th. This recipe will make a little more than one gallon of chili for you, your family and friends.

(2) Pounds Lean Hamburger  (cooked to just done and drained)

(4) Large Green Peppers (cut in chunks)

(3) Large Sweet Onions (cut into chunks)

(2) Tablespoons Vegetable Oil (for frying)

(1) Quart Mild Salsa (I use hannaford brand)

(1) Quart Medium Salsa

(1) Large Can Light Red Kidney Beans

(1) Small Can Black Beans

(1) Small Can Pinto Beans

(1) 28 oz Can Petite Diced Tomatoes

(1) 28 oz Can Diced Tomatoes

(1) Tomato can of water

(1) Can Sweet Corn

(4) Tablespoons Regular Chili Powder (more or less to taste)

(2) Tablespoons Hot Mexican Chili Powder

(1) Teaspoon Black Pepper

In large pot (more than one gallon) Pour both salsas, drained kidney beans, drained black beans, drained pinto beans. Add chili powders and pepper, Stir well. Add all tomatoes and water, stir.  If chili is really thick you can add more water.  Heat on low heat while cooking hamburger.

Saute hamburger to just done (a bit pink is ok),  drain well. Add to salsa mixture, stir.

Saute pepper and onion chunks in vegetable oil till just tender. Add to salsa mixture. Stir

Drain corn and add. Stir.  Taste. If more spice is needed add now with a dash of salt.  Heat chili to just boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.

Enjoy!

waldron buildersCustomer Testimonial

Posted: May 06, 2010

Mike,

I want to thank you in writing for the superior job you have done with my new home. Every step of the way you have helped turn a nice 1600 square foot blueprint into, as you said so well, "a bold and elegant" dream home.

You recommended lot 37 for its privacy, calling it a "diamond in the rough." You added a large basement to take advantage of the sloped landscape and to add square footage. By suggesting that we make 37 Brampton Lane a showcase, I was able to have a home with many more features than I thought possible within my budget. Thank you so much for the many upgrades that you paid for out of your pocket: the bedroom windows, the larger

bathroom countertops, the nice kitchen sink, upgraded kitchen cabinets, the increased number of recessed lights, the garage door opener, the oak staircase with banisters to the basement, the stamped concrete on the front porch and walk, and so many other thoughtful improvements that would take pages to name.

Unlike many builders who delegate client contact to a project manager, you were there for me to review the blueprints in your office, helped me choose from your builders samples, met me at the site to discuss a retaining wall or to show me construction progress, and took the time to show me one of your completed homes and introduced me to the owners. I remember you showing me how a backup generator worked, you were patient with my ignorance.

You had many helpful contributions: more appealing vinyl shake design and color, moving the fireplace into the great room for more drama while allowing for a cleaner garage wall space, removing the master bath shower and replacing it with a mudroom closet, having an entry from the garage to the mudroom, putting large garden windows in the basement to bring in light, and creating the three-dimensional look wherever possible with materials.

I think very highly of you as a person and a builder of high-quality, crafted homes. I would be honored to share my experience with potential clients, consider me at your disposal. Please accept this check as a very small token of my appreciation for what you have done. Use it for a night out with your wife.

Sincerely,

Alan Steele
